EVS project “Sea is Life” is project that hosts longterm EVS volunteers on island Murter. The hosting organization is Argonauta association who has successfully implemented 8 editions of „Sea is life“ project and hosts numerous longterm volunteers. All volunteers have brought part of their knowledge, skills, creativity, imagination, personality, and spirit in Argonauta, the local community, and all projects they were hardly working on.
The main themes of the project are education for nature and environment, active citizenship and youth creativity. The objective of the project is to continue to raise awareness of the local community and wider public about the importance of sustainable development and unused local community resources, and to widen the impact of Argonauta’s work – with help of European Voluntary Service that two volunteers are taking for 12 months period of living at the Island of Murter.
Volunteers assist in daily operations of Argonauta’s in the summer season, designing educational and creative workshops for children, assist in promotional and administration work of the organization, assist in preparation and implementation of youth exchanges, local voluntary actions, developing their own personal project, etc. Volunteers benefit from the project in personal, social, and professional development. Also, the local community of Murter Island and the whole region are better informed about the ERASMUS+ Program that motivates more young people to get actively involved in civil society activities. True this project, in means of non-formal education, volunteers deepen their life experience in a new culture different from their own.
