EVS (European Voluntary Service) is an international volunteer programme funded by the European Commission. It enables all young people legally resident in Europe, aged between 18 and 30 years, to carry out an international volunteer service in an organisation or in a public body in Europe, Africa, Asia or South America for a period ranging from 2 weeks up to 12 months. Shortterm EVS can last maximum 2 months and longterm is at least 2 months up to 12 months. What is important- you can make only one shortterm and one longterm EVSes in your life and two of them in total can last 12 months. AND shortterm has to take place BEFORE longterm. So plan good!

European Voluntary Service is based on the following principles:

  • increasing your own skills through the practical experience of volunteering abroad;
  • encouraging the learning of another language;
  • developing the ability to interact with persons of different language and culture;
  • spreading tolerance among young people of the European Union;
  • promoting active citizenship;
  • supporting the development of local communities.

For example our project’s main topic is ecology but but we also have social, youth and children activities (connected to the ecology as well, so it is all conected). Each project differs and there are many of them, just be patient (some of us looked for months to find suitable project), look around and we’re sure that you will find perfect EVS for you.
